Crystal Lee (b. 1993) is an artist & natural dyer based in Singapore. She graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2013 with a diploma in fine arts.
In the summer of 2014, she spent time in England experimenting with the art of natural dyeing. Her interest in the craft was further deepened by a workshop in London, which exposed her to the alchemy of natural dyeing & several dyeing techniques.
Her artistic practice is influenced by her deep appreciation for colours & textures of the natural world as well as the rich culture & rituals of Southeast Asia.

Project Coal focuses on the exploration of natural dyes; offering one-of-a-kind textiles, objects & art.
Our hand-crafted pieces are made with the intention of adorning spaces and the self. Using natural materials, botanical extracts & pigments to infuse fabrics with colours of the earth, creating pieces that have a story to tell. With experimentation in mind, each piece has been interweaved with the dyer’s own expression & interpretation of the art and natural world.
